Extensible Object Component (XOC) Modules

The Extensible Object Component (XOC) module is an application-tier implementation of the ELIS Framework.

Based on proven technologies, such as Microsoft .NET™ and Sun Java J2EE™ it focuses on providing an organization with an out-of-the-box Enterprise solution. XOC Modules promote the standardization of business practices by creating a single set of business functions for the entire organization to access.

XOC Modules are essentially object classes that allow developers to extend their core functionalities. By implementing with XOC Modules, developers can quickly create customized web portals and applications without starting from scratch.

XOC Modules provide a structure for communication and shared resources among different module implementations. By focusing on a variety of aspects, such as:

Responsiveness
Programming productivity
Reliability
Security
Scalability
Integration

XOC Modules solve the challenges for today's enterprise applications.

Depending on the situation, there are two flavors of XOC Modules:

DWP/XOC Modules - used for communication with dynamic web-based portals

CMA/XOC Modules - used for communication with content management applications

As a subset of the XOC Module family, the DWP/XOC Modules focus on providing the core application/business-logic functionality to dynamic Web-based Portals.

The DWP/XOC Modules provide the most commonly used functions throughout websites across the World Wide Web. It allows for the rapid development of web sites and portals across different technological platforms.

Common implementations of the DWP/XOC Modules include rich-media websites, corporate portals, government intranets, and even personal websites. The DWP/XOC Modules are fully customizable to suit specific business needs.

To view more of what the DWP/XOC Modules can offer please visit the Dynamic Web-based Portal page.

For those wanting greater control over their web sites and portals, the CMA/XOC Modules are used to achieve greater administration and configuration benefits.

The CMA/XOC Modules focus on providing clients with the ability to remotely control and configure various aspects of their web portal. Similar to the DWP/XOC Modules, the CMA/XOC Modules inherit all the benefits of the XOC Module Family and as such, is extensible for developers to create a customized control infrastructure.

By implementing CMA/XOC Modules, non-technical staff will be able to configure properties of the web portal without requiring them to understand the technical aspects.

To view more of what the CMA/XOC Modules can offer please visit the Content Management Application page.

XOC Modules have a wide range of implementations and Civion strives to provide more functionality to come.
